To demonstrate my understanding of animal anatomy and showcase my XGen skills, I chose to create a fennec fox. I wanted to complete one more project before my course at CG5 Academy ended, so I worked as quickly as possible. I focused on capturing its cute appearance and enjoyed refining the XGen guides and adjusting the modifiers, which made the process really fun.
I started by sculpting the fennec fox’s bone and muscle structure in ZBrush, then used Substance Painter to create texture maps for the skin and fur. After that, I placed guides in XGen and adjusted the modifiers to express the texture of the fox’s fur. Finally, I rendered the scene with Arnold using HDRI, and composited the background in Photoshop.
